The Arts Lab

Year 6 children worked with Redruth Press from The Arts Lab to design and create posters for our 3 Curriculum Pillars: Thrive, Respect, Empower. They used traditional printing methods to do this, and whilst here, the local artists used the 5 Ways to Wellbeing as tools to improve not only their creativity, but their mental health and resilience.

Please see the Arts Lab’s recent video which Owen and Eliza from year 6 narrated.

Our First Session Using the New Laser Cutter

Today Wheal Fortune had ago at using the brand new laser cutter which the school bought using a donation of £1000, which was kindly given to Treleigh School by Watson Marlow in Falmouth. All the children were so excited to be the first to use it in the school and to experiment what they were able to make with it and use it for. They were taught how to use it safely and why using the correct PPE was of great importance.

The children decided to incorporate using the laser cutter, when making 'Fathers Day Cards'.

This will certainly help the children when they move onto secondary school with Design Technology and Art. They will have had a head start on understanding how the software works with the laser cutter and how to program it to design their own projects.

A big thank you to Watson Marlow for making this all possible!

What’s Beyond the Horizon?

This week Wheal Bunnie have launched our new curriculum enquiry question: ‘What’s Beyond the Horizon?’
We have been focusing in Art on painting. First, we looked at mixing primary and secondary colours. Then we explored painting on different textures, using different tools. Finally, we have been looking at contrasting colours. It has been a lot of fun (if a bit messy too!)

More Designing and Creating Posters

Today the next 15 year 6s were screen printing with our artists from Redruth Press. They were focusing on ‘empower’ and as you can see, some very thoughtful and creative messages came through this conversation, translating onto their finished posters. I think you will agree that they are all fantastic!

Designing and Create Posters

Today the first of our lucky year 6s got to work with artists from Redruth Press to design and then create posters around our first pillar, Respect. They used traditional printing methods to do this and as you can see, they were incredibly creative, encompassing the meaning beautifully. Well done everyone! We look forward to seeing the hard work continue next week with the rest of year 6!
