Staying Safe Online

Today Year 5 and 6 had a visit from our local police officers to deliver guidance on staying safe online. With Christmas just past us, we were aware that many of our children have new devices, including mobile phones, and this session provided awareness of the legalities surrounding APP use and online presence. Thank you to Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police for supporting Treleigh in our drive to keep all our children safe.

Healthy Body, Healthy Mind?

Today in Wheal Kitty we launched our new topic ‘Healthy Body, Healthy Mind?’ and we had a lesson on how to take care of our teeth.

Treleigh Carol Service

What a way to end our series of community Christmas events with a fantastic carol service at St Stephen’s Church on Sunday evening. Treleigh Community Choir (TCC) were not only singers but actors retelling the story of Baboushka to a packed congregation - there was not a spare seat in the church!! Thank you for your continued support and well done to our wonderful singers, soloists, readers, staff and clergy who helped to bring the Christmas magic to the Treleigh community. Merry Christmas everyone!

KS2 Carol Concert

Thank you to all who came to support our KS2 children in their carol concert today - ‘Twas an afternoon to remember!’ Beautiful voices, clear narration and smiling faces from ear to ear! What a fantastic Christmas celebration it was! We are proud of them all.

Children’s Learning in Maths and English

It was lovely to welcome so many KS1 & EYFS families into school today, to celebrate our children’s learning in maths and English. We hope you enjoyed sharing your child's learning with them

Geothermal Plant at United Downs

Today it was Wheal Raven’s turn to visit the geothermal plant at United Downs. They were all fascinated to learn about how we can drill down to the granite beneath Cornwall, harness the heat there and convert it to cleaner electricity. Thank you Geothermal Projects for hosting all of our upper key stage two children over the last few weeks. We have been inspired and many of us are now thinking of careers with you in the future!

Entertaining the Residents at St. Julia’s Hospice

And TCC strike again!! This afternoon Treleigh Community Choir entertained residents at St. Julia’s Hospice in Hayle. We couldn’t be more proud of them all! Just beautiful!

Treleigh Community Choir

We were so very proud of the Treleigh Community Choir today, who performed a Christmas set list at a local nursing home. They sang beautifully and spread lots of joy and Christmas cheer amongst the residents. There’s more to come from TCC so watch this space.

Celebrate our Children’s Learning in Maths and English

It was lovely to welcome so many Year 3 and 4 families into school to celebrate our children’s learning in maths and English. This is the first of our scheduled open afternoon events and we look forward to sharing more with you over the upcoming days.

UK Parliament

This morning we welcomed Tomas from UK Parliament to deliver an assembly to our Key Stage 2 children. The children were fascinated to learn about The Houses of Parliament; Lords and Commons, the role of an MP and how this links to our British Values. We think Treleigh has some future Prime Ministers in the making!

Treleigh Ambassadors

In today’s assembly we introduced our newly formed Treleigh Ambassadors and discussed their individual roles in school. We are very excited to be rolling out this new ambassador programme and look forward to developing the roles further in school. Take a look at our ambassador page on the website (see link below) and learn what the new job roles entail. There will be opportunities for all pupils to apply for these positions moving forward. Well done everyone!

Redruth in Lights
We are looking forward to seeing our families at the Redruth in Lights Event tomorrow, where our community club will be parading their lanterns through the town lead by Santa in his sleigh. The town council are launching a FREE Christmas grotto tomorrow at Redruth Community Centre to run for 3 Saturdays – 25/11, 02/12 & 09/12 from 10:30am – 12:30pm & 1 – 3pm. No booking is required and there is free parking on site. Also at Kernow they will have a giant sit in light up sleigh with a giant reindeer (decorative) for any families that would like to come and have their photo taken in the sleigh.

We look forward to seeing lots of you en route tomorrow night and can’t wait to see the town lit up for Christmas!
Cornwall Air Ambulance
It was with great pleasure that we welcomed Paul to our school today. Paul, a paramedic who works on the Cornwall Air Ambulance, came to receive the money raised from selling ice poles in the summer. The Community Club raised a whopping, £350.
Well done to all the Community Club members involved. Finally, we wish Paul all the best in his upcoming race in Taipei. Aside from being a paramedic, Paul is an ultra distance runner who competes for Great Britain in the 24-hour track races.
All the best, Paul!

Creating Lanterns for the ‘Redruth in Lights’ Parade

We have been busy preparing for another community event later in the month. Our community club members worked with a visiting artist to create lanterns for the upcoming ‘Redruth in Lights’ parade. We welcomed parents in to help and very much look forward to sharing the finished products with you next week.

 Learning about Remembrance Day

Wheal Lovely and Wheal Friendly have enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day, paying their respects by making and painting poppies.

Off to Newquay Zoo
Wheal Fortune had a great time at Newquay Zoo today! Their day trip out was a treat they had earned from the last half term's '5 to Thrive' Attendance Competition.
Let's hope we win again next half term!

Community Catch Up

A huge thank you to the volunteers at St Stephen’s Church for inviting our families into their hall for a community catch up today. It was lovely to see lots of smiling faces enjoying the refreshments and spending time together. Well done to our Community Club members for supporting the event so brilliantly and we look forward to more community catch ups in the near future.

Supporting St Stephen’s Church

Our school community club will be supporting St Stephen’s Church in their upcoming event on 17th October. The church will be opening their hall for hot drinks and cake from 2pm for all Treleigh parents on the school run. What a lovely opportunity to bring the community together.

Thank you to the children for taking part in the Murdoch Day artwork parade this year-it looked amazing!

A Visit From the Arts Lab Based at Krowj

Today, we had a visit again from the Arts Lab based at Krowji. This creative well-being programme worked with year 6 last term to print posters alongside local artists, Redruth Press. Eliza and Owen represented year 6 today as the voice for a new promotional video of the programme, highlighting what they do and how they benefit local children. We were honoured to be the voices of the video and both Eliza and Owen showed wonderful speaking skills. We look forward to seeing the finished piece!

Dartmoor Residential

Year 6 had an excellent time this week on their residential to Dartmoor. The instructors, catering team, and staff were second to none, and the children (and adults!) were looked after incredibly well. There will certainly be further posts of photos and videos soon to show how epic the trip was. But for now, I think everyone needs a good rest. Welcome home everybody!
