Treleigh’s Future Lionesses

Final Hockey Lesson
Wheal Plenty's final hockey lesson today with Mr. Eva In their final lesson they competed against each other in a Hockey World Cup tournament! Congratulations to team Brazil who won the tournament !What a lovely afternoon for it, well done Wheal Plenty
Year 3/4 World Cup Football Tournament
A massive well done to all 90 children involved in the year 3/4 World Cup football tournament today! It was a very close final between Spain and Korea, which ended up with the latter being well deserved winners, beating Spain 3-2. Congratulations Korea! Next up …Y5/6!
Treleigh Basketball Team
Despite some of the faces in the photo - Treleigh A basketball team won the cluster event today, winning all of their 5 matches! They will now represent the Redruth area in the finals. Treleigh B also gave a good account of themselves finishing 4th out of 6 after several very close matches. Thank you to the parents once again for their amazing support!
Team Building Games

Treleigh Netball Team
Amazing defence skills and possession led to a fantastic win against St. Day and Trewirgie for the Netball team at the cluster qualifier at Redruth School this afternoon. They are now through to the finals at Penryn. Great team work.
The first selection round for Sports Leaders
The first selection round for Sports Leaders got underway today with over 25 enthusiastic year 6’s. It’s going to be a difficult process selecting the final few!
Parachute Games
Great fun was had in infant sports club yesterday. The children enjoyed different parachute games.

Sports Day - 2022
Athletics Quadkids Event
A great effort by all our year 4s this morning at the athletics Quadkids event. We had many 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and also particular recognition for their teamwork, determination, honesty and effort. Well done to all - we look forward to receiving the results next week.
Racket and Ball Control
Year 3/4 were focusing on developing their racket and ball control today in PE.
Under 10’s FA Pokémon Futsal County Cup
Well done to Leo S, Tobin P and Dougie M on qualifying in the under 10’s FA Pokémon Futsal County Cup at Bodmin last weekend for Redruth United. They are now through to the regional finals playing at Wolverhampton in May. Good luck boys!
Y5/6 Football Competition
It was great to get back to competitive fixtures today as two of our Y5/6 football teams travelled to Trevithick in Camborne. With one win and a loss, everyone played their part in two great games. We look forward to arranging more matches very soon as both sides showed great organisation and an exciting potential. Well done to Tobin (x4), Dougie (x3), Mason (x2) and Ryland in particular for their goals. Thank you to the parents for their support and for helping with transport.

Treleigh Netball Team
The netball team enjoyed their qualifier match against Redruth year 7s and St. Day last week. They played brilliantly and adapted to the new Bee Netball rules. Their teamwork earned them a 12-3 win against Redruth Y7s and a narrow loss against St. Day. Well done to all of those involved!
Cartwheels and Headstands
Year 6 Gymnastics lesson today, their lesson objective was the progression of performing a cartwheel and headstand.
New Outdoor Exercise Equipment
Exciting news! Yesterday we had some outdoor exercise equipment installed which will soon be in use for all children throughout the school. To compliment our other range of active playtime equipment, this will help us to achieve the NHS recommend of at least 60 active minutes every day.
Developing Counter-Balance & Counter-Tension
In our 5/6 Gymnastics lesson this afternoon, the class focused on developing counter-balance and counter-tension. They successfully did this by working in pairs and teams

Penryn Gymnastics Club
Treleigh represented the Redruth area at Penryn Gymnastics Club yesterday and were successful again! Yr3/4 finished 2nd overall with Betty placing 1st individually and Freya placed 1st with Mia 2nd in the yr5/6 age group! Congratulations everyone-what an incredible effort against some very tough opposition.
Y3/4 and Y5/6 Gymnastics Team
They only went and did it! Both the Y3/4 and Y5/6 gymnastics team won their competitions against Trewirgie and St. Day school today. They should be very proud of their strength, flexibility and balance. They were also a pleasure to take out of school. Macie and Grace entered into a separate Elite competition securing silver and bronze respectively. Well done everyone!
Athletics Competition
Some of our year 6 pupils ran, threw and jumped their hearts out yesterday! With the vast majority representing the school for the first time in a sporting capacity, the early nerves didn’t last long and these were replaced with big smiles. The results are not in yet but, whatever they are, well done to you all! Thank you to the parents for their help with transport and to the staff and Young Leaders at Redruth School who were fantastic.

Y5/6 Basketball Teams
We did it! Congratulations to both of the Y5/6 basketball teams who were fantastic at Redruth School today. The A-team won all five of their matches to win the tournament undefeated and the B-team won two matches and narrowly lost the others.
Y6 Sports Leaders
Our Y6 Sports Leaders resumed and completed their final session this week. We look forward to utilising their leadership skills to support others soon.

Fifteen Y5 Sports Leaders started their course today with Mr. Eva and Ed from GoActive. They were very complimentary about their ideas and attitude towards learning. Some great role models/future coaches in the making!
Y5/6 Bubble Football Match
Wow, what a game! Our Y5/6 bubble football match this afternoon could not have been more tense with goals galore and end-to-end action throughout. There were strong but fair tackles with some great individual performances. Goals for Y5 from Noah x2, and Captain, Talan, x2 were matched by a Y6 goal from Captain Kacey and a hat-trick from Reuben. A very fair 4-4 draw resulted in smiles all round! Well done to everyone involved and to the rest of their peers for their amazing support!
Well done to Y5/6 Basketballers
Well done to the basketballers from Y5/6 for representing the school so well today. Mixing up the teams with three other schools, a number of them came away with medals and they all had a great time. Thank you to the parents for their support and to Mrs Biddle for taking them.
Girls Dodgeball
Y5 against Y6 girls Dodgeball tonight. To say it was competitive would be an understatement!
Well done to our Netballers!
After the most nail biting 24 minutes of Netball, their faces and medals say it all. Amazing teamwork helped Treleigh score the winning point at 23 minutes and 55 seconds against Trewirgie to win a place in the area finals. A special well done to Kacey who received an additional medal for showing great determination and also to Joseph for displaying honest play. Well done Netballers!
Hungry Hippos
Y5 were unable to get in the hall for gymnastics this week which gave us a great excuse to play Hungry Hippos!

Cross Country
Well done to all of our cross country runners who competed at Redruth School this afternoon. High numbers have qualified for the area finals at Pool, many finishing in the top three places. Thank you to Mr. Hanley and Miss Philpott for their time and energy in training them and to the parents for their amazing support again!

Swimming Gala
Congratulations to the year 5 and 6 swimming team who took part in the gala at Redruth School recently. Competing against two other schools, they raced individually in the 25m Front Crawl, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle showing great stroke technique, fitness and determination before finishing with a Freestyle relay. The children were on amazing form, showing great support for each other. Well done to Olly who raced against children from the older age group in the relay. The year 5 girls and boys team have now progressed onto the area finals.
Festive Excitement
The festive excitement is building in Wheal Unity. Yesterday the class had a special delivery, a Christmas elf! The children have enjoyed thinking of a name for him, all will be revealed soon!
Each morning the children are also enjoying opening the doors on their active advent calendar. Thank you to Miss Pascoe for sharing it with us

The sun was out for Y6 who started their Bikeability sessions today, learning to stay safe on the roads whilst developing healthy, sustainable life choices.

Wheal Harmony and Wheal Unity had a great time in the sun during P.E this week, ‘tidying their bedroom!’ They were unaware that they were actually practicing a range of throwing techniques!

Surfing at Gwithian
Wheal Plenty had a brilliant time surfing at Gwithian yesterday! Despite the testing weather conditions, the children all had fun, and they even had the opportunity to surf with a seal! To top it all off, an awesome rainbow appeared across the beach to close the session!
Football Club
Year 1/2 football club got off to a great start today during lunch. We have some very promising players coming through and it was nice to see more girls attending. We look forward to year 1’s turn next week.
Cross Country Club
With the clubs starting this week, Cross Country club was blessed with glorious sunshine and plenty of wide games to get the children's heart rates up.

First Ever Schools Gymnastics Competition at Phoenix Gym Club
A massive well done to all of our Gymnastics team members who took part in the first ever Schools Gymnastics competition at Phoenix Gym club today. We had placings for Kacey (1st), Jess (3rd) and Maia (5th) in Advanced+, Clara (3rd) and Holly (5th) in the Advanced category and Charlotte (4th) in Intermediate. All 10 of the girls tried their very best and did an amazing job supporting each other throughout.

County Primary Schools Cross Country Final
Well done Crawford and Jess for running so well today at the County Primary Schools Cross Country Final in Newquay. The fastest children from all over Cornwall competed today.. and they were quick! They worked hard to get there, qualifying in both the cluster and area finals, so it was brilliant to see them end the season well!
Cluster Qualifiers
Great effort from the YR5/6 footballers yesterday at the Cluster qualifiers. With one win, one draw and one loss, they secured a medal as joint runners up.

Hand-eye Coordination Skills
Year 3 were refining their hand-eye coordination skills this week with table tennis as the sport of choice.
A PE Lesson with Wheal Busy
A brilliant PE lesson today in Wheal Busy. Not only were there great gymnastic skills on show but more importantly the children showed their growth mindset by challenging themselves and persevering to achieve things they thought they couldn't do. Mr Proctor and Mrs Wheeler were also impressed with the support, encouragement and coaching they gave each other. Well done everyone.
Cross Country Area Finals
The Cross-Country team had a fantastic time at the Area Finals this afternoon, hosted by Pool Academy. All of our runners, who previously qualified for this race at the Redruth Schools tournament in November, ran exceptionally well. Considering that each of them were racing against close to 80 of the fastest runners in their year group, they handled the pressure brilliantly and most importantly, had lots of fun. They deserve to put their feet up tonight! A write up will follow in this week's Treleigh News.
Multi-skills Event
14 children from Key Stage 1 headed across to Redruth School this afternoon to take part in a multi-skills event. For many, it was their first time representing Treleigh but they were all fantastic and had a great time! Thank you to Mrs. Roscorla and Mrs. Barton for taking them and to the parents for their great support
